about
World-renowned drummer/composer and producer/beatmaker Myele Manzanza is back with a brand new single titled 'Coldharbour Lane'.
The new track follows the recent release of his album 'Crisis & Opportunity - London Vol.1', which garnered wide critical and public support, catching the attention of Mary Ann Hobbs, Jamie Cullum, The Guardian, Jazz FM, Soho Radio, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 and many more.
Continuing on Myele's reflection of the time we currently live in as a global society, Coldharbour Lane has a very personal connection with the London-based musician. "Coldharbour Lane’ was written in the beginning months of the 2020 lockdown. I had recently bought a second-hand keyboard and was messing around with some ideas in my flat in Coldharbour Lane in South London.
I had a lot of fun writing it and dancing to the demos with my flatmates in our little lockdown bubble. On a personal level, the piece brings to mind the melancholy and the joy that our little crew on Coldharbour Lane went through as we navigated through the upheaval of 2020 and tried to figure out how our lives were going to transition into the great unknown.
Musically, the piece is undeniably a big gumbo of musical cultures, from the Spanish influenced harmony, the Caribbean / Brazilian / African rhythm underpinning the groove and the American inspired jazz improvisation flowing through the piece. In its own subtle way, I feel this reflects the joyous melting pot of culture and people that made life on Coldharbour Lane what it was during my time there."

My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
